Cutting & Coring

Concrete Cutting & Coring

CementWright maintains a variety of electric and gas cutting and coring equipment. We have tooling for both concrete and asphalt, and our machines are well maintained. We have equipment capable of flush-cutting concrete as well as the usual slab saws and handheld machines. Our coring equipment includes both handheld and mounted coring rigs. We work hard to offer complete solutions, and will often do scopes additional to the cutting and demolition.

Asphalt & Concrete Cutting Capabilities

We provide services such as basement egress windows and doors, slab sawing and demolition, and have overhead and vertical capabilities. We work together with our sister company to extend a wider range of services around cutting concrete. These include:

  • Concrete Cutting
  • Excavation
  • Concrete work- we can cut your concrete and replace it.
  • Entries or egress windows. Full project management available including window/door installation and entryway/window well construction.
  • Plumbing and electrical trenches, including excavation, backfill, & patching. Stabilize your schedule by dealing with a single contractor
  • Interior cutting with electric saws

We can also offer patching and repair of what we cut out. We are careful to avoid overcutting where possible so we don’t unnecessarily weaken the surrounding structure.

Concrete Coring

Concrete coring is often called for in overhauls such as tenant improvements (TI), where it might be used for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services, or retrofitting piles and bollards. Plant turnarounds and heavy civil projects sometimes need coring from us as well. We can core anchor bolt holes and install them accurately. A coring rig will be more accurate than a handheld machine, but there are cases where a handheld drill is faster or more convenient. We will use the best machine we have for your project to ensure it is done well.

concrete dust control and safety

Cutting concrete is hard, dirty work. We mitigate this through dust control and keeping our work clean- mostly for safety, but also for our comfort. Concrete cutting is loud and can create silica dust, even when controlled with vacuums and water. Long term exposure is hazardous through diseases such as silicosis, so we are careful to wear respirators and other safety gear. We use appropriate equipment to clean up and dispose of slurry generated from concrete cutting.

Most concrete and asphalt coring is done wet to lubricate and cool the diamond blade, and to remove swarf (cuttings). This has the benefit of controlling dust pretty substantially, though a small amount still can become airborne. We recommend protecting anything near your project that can’t be exposed to water or dust. Due diligence in the form of scanning to ensure no impact to buried infrastructure occurs is wise in any instance of concrete and asphalt cutting or coring.

Experience our Service

We’ve found that combining concrete demolition, cutting, and repair capability within the same company allows us to be efficient in offering a high quality product. We can complete jobs in a single mobilisation that can normally only be done by hiring several different contractors. Contact us for help planning your project- we might be able to make it easier.

Cutting and coring of concrete is hard work, and it can be easy to make excuses for poor workmanship. We don’t.
